The Opportunity

We are looking for an Intermediate/Senior Architect, Architectural Designer or Technician to join our dynamic and growing team of professionals designing transformative space. We are looking for someone warm, easy to connect with and with a strong team oriented and growth mindset - egos need not apply. The successful candidate will help personify our brand and be committed to delivering unparalleled client experiences. They will have a passion for architecture and design with a natural sense of proportion and understanding of detail. They will operate with the highest standards, have a sense of humour and being able to maintain a calm and unflappable manner even under stress. They will also have the ability to work from home as necessary. Finally, they will be impeccably organized and efficient with the ability to work on multiple active projects at the same time and are confident working independently.

Who You Are

  • Passionate about architecture and design

  • OAA licensed Architect or Intern Architect -B.Arch, M.Arch, Licensed Technologist OAAAS, M.A.A.T.O. or graduate of Architectural Technology program at a post-secondary institution recognized by the Province of Ontario

  • Fully proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Revit or ArchiCAD

  • Experienced Mac platform user

  • Excellent technical, design and visual presentation skills

  • Detail oriented with an eye for precision

  • Excellent ability to manage project budgets, personal time commitments as well as team resources

  • Working knowledge of local zoning by-laws, as well as the OBC (Part 9)

  • Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Experience in custom North American residential design vernacular and construction methods

  • Have a valid drivers license and your own vehicle


What You Will Be Doing

  • Working out pre-design site constraints (zoning, heritage, conservation, site plan, etc)

  • Developing and preparing schematic and preliminary working drawings from design concept sketches

  • Developing additional schematic design concepts

  • Preparing 3-D designs and presentation materials

  • Developing full working drawings sets for permit review

  • Co-ordinating submission forms and documentation for permit applications

  • Managing drafting sub-contractors

  • Developing exterior construction detail packages

  • Developing architectural interior elevations and construction details

  • Developing reflected ceiling plans/electrical drawings

  • Co-ordinating consultants' drawings and schedules

  • Reviewing shop drawings (e.g. trusses, windows, steel, millwork, etc.)

  • Managing all aspects of client relationship including all communications and meetings (e.g. phone calls, emails) clients

  • Managing all aspects of site relationship including site review and ongoing communications with contractors

  • Researching innovative construction products for custom finishes

  • Occasionally assisting with measure-ups and block-outs of existing buildings

  • Participating in occasional presentations to Committee of Adjustment, and/or Heritage Committee

  • Assisting/mentoring junior colleagues

  • Raising the bar for customer experience, efficiency, profitability
